The governors of Phoenix High School are dedicated to the achievement of excellence on the part of Phoenix students. We are delighted that due to the dedication of high-quality staff and students, Phoenix is a school where increasing numbers of young people are getting top GCSEs. We are proud of how the school works closely with the culturally rich community of Shepherds Bush to ensure young people achieve their potential, wherever their skills may lie.
The Governing Body is made up of representatives from the community, those with business or professional expertise, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff. The headteacher of Phoenix High Schools is also a governor of the school.
The Governing Body is responsible for the overall direction of the school. It is not responsible for day-to-day matters, which are the responsibility of the headteacher. It is involved in the decision-making process, including school policies and procedures. It is responsible for agreeing the school budget and ensuring that the National Curriculum is taught to all students. The governing body also acts as a ‘critical friend’ to the headteacher, offering support, advice - and asking challenging questions when necessary.
The Chair of the Governing Body is Rosemary Farrar. She can be contacted via the school.
